The Victorian Government is supporting Victorian farmers to invest in new energy equipment and technology to improve sustainability and reduce energy costs with the rollout, and now extension, of Agriculture Energy Investment Plan grants.
If you’re eligible, you could receive a grant towards your energy upgrades of up to $250,000.
The dollar for dollar grants will support farm businesses improve their energy efficiency, reduce on-farm costs and maintain their competitiveness. Grants have already been awarded to farms across the agricultural sector – including dairy, sheep, horticulture and viticulture producers.
The grants awarded so far have been used on projects such as solar energy systems, sustainable solar-powered dairy systems and solar irrigation and electricity upgrades. Some farms are expected to save over 50 per cent on their annual energy costs, improve overall efficiency and reduce ongoing maintenance costs.
Who is eligible? To be eligible for the State Government’s Grants, you must:
- Have a current on-farm energy assessment (we can help you with this)
- Have a current ABN
- Have an eligible farm business located in Victoria
- Spend more than $8,000 per year on energy
